Description: Best Practices for your Classroom Language & Literacy Center will introduce providers and staff to the
importance of this center in their program. They will understand language and literacy development for infants,
toddlers, and preschoolers while going through each stage of development and discussing what skills children are
working on during each one. We will explore ways to support language and literacy development by providing
examples and creative activities to implement into their program. Providers will be introduced to Baby Sign Language
and the importance of giving young children a way to communicate early on. Examples of what a language and literacy
center should look like in a preschool classroom will be provided, along with creative activities and materials to use at
this center. Participants will receive 1.5 Gateways training hours for completion.
