Quality Counts Child Care Grant Program

What is the “Quality Counts” grant program?:
The “Quality Counts” grant program funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and administered by Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) has been created to improve and expand early care and education services in Illinois for child care centers and family child care homes.

What are the goals of the “Quality Counts” grant program?:

  • Increase the availability/quality for infant & toddler care, school age care, and children with special needs care.
  • Increase the availability/quality of providers whose enrollment reflects families/children receiving child care assistance.
  • Retain centers and homes that meet and exceed DCFS licensing standards.

What can providers request?:

  • Equipment/Materials for Children
  • Family Resources
  • Facility Improvement
  • Professional Resources

How do Child Care Providers apply?:

  • All legally operating programs listed on CCR&R database (Will, Grundy, Kendall, & Kankakee Counties) are eligible.
  • Be sure your child care program is listed on the CCR&R provider database by calling 815-741-1163 Ext. 268.
  • Initially you can receive a grant application at a “Quality Counts” bidders’ conference. Attending a Bidders’ Conference is highly recommended.
