Current Theme: “Quality Counts Grant Program?”
On March 3, 2009 the “Quality Counts Grants” applications will be due. Here are some commonly asked questions we receive about the grants.

When will we know if we have received a grant?
After the reviewing process for each application, award/denial letters will be sent out the week of June 30th. Vendor Verification forms for materials/equipment as well as other instructions will accompany any award letter.

When will the next grants be available?
The CCR&R fiscal year budget goes from July 1st to June 30th. You may want to re-check your training calendar. The dates for QC Grant Bidder’s Conferences are listed there. If the grants do become available in the next fiscal year, we start advertising that in the CCR&R Fall Training Calendar.

Where do the monies for the Quality Counts Grants come from?
The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), Bureau of Child Care & Development provides funding for this grant program.

I’ve never written a grant before, what are some tips?

    • Read the entire grant request for proposal through thoroughly.
    • If you do not understand the instructions call CCR&R at (815) 741-1163 Ext. 228 or Ext. 226. If it is another type of grant from another entity call the organization that is funding the grant.
    • Follow the format and instructions completely.
    • Answer all questions and complete all sections.
    • Write clearly, concisely and to the point.
    • Have another person who does not understand your business read your proposal before submitting it. If they understand it, chances are so will the reviewers.

How many grants will be awarded this fiscal year? Will I get the full amount I requested?
Currently we have $191,299.00 for the Quality Counts Child Care Grant Program, with $65,000.00 targeted for programs that request funds to serve infants and toddlers. The number of grants depends on the number of proposals received and amount awarded to each eligible application awarded. We reserve the right to award full or partial funds.
